A STUDY OF THE PROSPECTS AND CHALLENGES DIGITAL TECHNOLOGY IN ENGLISH LANGUAGE PEDAGOGY

Abstract

This paper is an investigation into how digital technology contributes
to the pedagogy of English especially in the tertiary institution of
learning. The outcome has not only exposed the challenges; it has also
introduced the prospects in the new order. The study used the virtual
survey method in which questionnaires were given to Higher National
Diploma (HND) and National Diploma (ND) students of selected
Departments in Yaba College of Technology, Yaba, Lagos, Nigeria,
where English is taught as a general course. Data derived from the
questionnaire were subjected to statistical data to determine how
digital technology has influenced the teaching and learning of English
in the college.
